Straight answers

The four things employers tell us.

None of these are dealbreakers. They are just the reasons benefits get put off another year.

“We can’t afford benefits.”

Start with a contribution the company can sustain and compare the medical options available to your group. Voluntary benefits can add employee-paid supplemental coverage. Payroll work and product tax treatment still need review. The benefits review comes with no obligation.

“We’re happy with our current broker.”

Good. Plenty of employers are not. The common complaints are renewal rates that land days before the deadline, no enrollment platform, no employee education, and all the paperwork left with HR. If none of that sounds familiar, keep them.

“Switching sounds disruptive.”

Switching brokers does not change your plan, your carrier, or your employees’ cards. We notify the prior broker and the carriers, and we run the employee education and enrollment. In most cases your team notices nothing except better answers to their questions. How switching works.

“Level-funded sounds risky.”

It is not right for every business. Level funding is a form of self-funding with scheduled payments and separate stop-loss protection. Review employer obligations, exclusions, enrollment changes, renewal terms and any conditions for returning unused claims funds. See how level-funded plans work.

How it works

A benefits review, start to finish.

Four steps, with a timeline agreed around your requested effective date, the information needed and carrier requirements.

STEP 01

Discovery

We look at your current plan, your census and demographics, your budget, and what your employees have actually been asking for.

STEP 02

Market shop

We quote across Washington carriers and bring back real comparisons, including level-funded and voluntary options that often go unmentioned.

STEP 03

Education & enrollment

We hold group and one-on-one employee meetings, in person or virtual, give employees a benefit booklet to keep, and run enrollment on Employee Navigator. HR does not inherit the paperwork.

STEP 04

Year-round service

Claims questions, ID cards, new hires, terminations, compliance dates. You get a licensed contact all year, not a renewal email.

Two options worth a closer look

Two approaches to compare with your current plan.

Level-funded health plans

A form of self-funding that combines scheduled claims funding, administration and stop-loss coverage. Compare employer responsibilities, contract limits and renewal terms with fully insured options. Any return of unused claims funds is conditional.

Voluntary benefits

Accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, disability and other supplemental policies employees may choose through payroll. Eligibility and minimum enrollment vary by product. Review payroll duties and pre-tax or after-tax treatment before enrollment.

Carriers

We compare available Washington carriers.

Being independent means the recommendation follows your census and your budget, not a single carrier’s quota.

Common questions

Before you call.

What does a broker cost us?

There is no fee at this time for our agency's services. Insurance carriers compensate us through commissions. Our broker services include market comparisons, employee education, the Employee Navigator platform, benefit booklets and year-round service. Third-party administrators may charge separate compliance, COBRA or account fees. We identify those costs before you decide.

How small a group can offer benefits?

Group medical in Washington can start with as few as one eligible common-law employee. Voluntary benefits can start at three. If you have been told you are too small to offer anything, that is worth a second opinion.

When can we switch brokers?

A broker-of-record request can often be made outside renewal. Each carrier sets its forms, processing requirements and effective date. Changing the broker alone does not replace the policy; any plan change is a separate decision. See how switching brokers works.

How long does a quote take?

Timing depends on the completeness of your census, the carriers and any underwriting required. We identify missing information and agree on a review schedule around your requested start date. A response to your inquiry is the first step; completed proposals follow the applicable carrier process.

Do you help our employees directly, or just us?

Both. We hold group meetings and one-on-one employee meetings, in person or virtual, give every employee a benefit booklet, answer their questions during enrollment, and remain available to them through the year for claims problems, ID cards and coverage questions.
