About the census
Why do you need a census for a quote?
Small-group health plans are priced person by person, mainly on each person’s age and where the employee lives. The census gives carriers exactly that, so the quotes you get are real rates rather than estimates.
How is my employees’ information protected?
Before anything is sent, the census is locked in your browser with a password you choose (AES-256, the same encryption Excel uses for password-protected workbooks). We can open it only after you give us the password by phone or in a separate email.
Until you send it, what you enter stays in this browser tab; closing the tab clears it. We use the information only to prepare your quotes, and we do not sell it.
Do I list employees who don’t want coverage?
Yes. List every eligible employee and choose a Waiving option for anyone declining. Carriers look at participation, and employees who have coverage elsewhere generally don’t count against you.
My spreadsheet looks different from your template. Will it work?
Upload it anyway. Most payroll exports and census files work: we match your columns automatically and you can change any match before importing. You can also download our Excel template and fill that in.
What about our current plan documents?

Is there a cost?
No. Insurance carriers pay brokers through commissions already built into the premium, so quotes, plan reviews and enrollment help cost your company nothing.
